On Day 4 we travel south to Monte Cassino where one of the toughest battles of WW II was fought and visit a war cemetery. Then we visit Pompeii to explore the excavation site and learn about the devastating 79 AD Mount Vesuvius eruption that buried Pompeii (wear sturdy walking shoes).
